Marital Status: Married to - and still in love with - Anne Tipsmark who is an Associate Professor of Modern French History. 3children:  Eileen (1975), Nicolas (1980), Nils (1988).

Avocations:
Active: Ski, biking , tennis (I wish); fotographing, painting, poetry; guitars, harmonicas, saxophones and keyboards, and child raising  (but the only thing I am good at is skiing); .
Passive: Film, music, plastic arts and literature.
